Wing-Commander H. C. Bevan, military secretary and comptroller to the Governor-General, and Mr. D. E. Fouhy, official secretary, have left for Wellington.
The Rev. J. C. Young, formerly of the Waikato, who has taken charge of the Mount Albert Presbyterian Church, was welcomed into the Auckland Presbytery.
Sir Robert Anderson, of Invercargill, has been elected chairman of the New Zealand board of directors of the New Zealand Shipping Company in place of the late Mr. George Gould, who had been chairman since 1923 Mr. T. J. Maling of Christchurch, has been appointed to fill the vacancy on the board.
Mr. J. A. Sampson was re-elected chairman of the Waikato County Council at the first meeting of the newly-elected council.
The Mayor of Auckland, Mr. J. A C Allum, left for Wellington by the Limited express last evening to attend a meeting of the executive of the Municipal Association. He expects to return on Saturday morning.
