OBITUARY
I MR. A. W. CHRISTIE A well-known officer of the Agrii culture Department in the Auckland I district, Mr. Archibald Whyte ! Christie died yesterday in hospital. I Born in Forfarshire, Scotland, Mr. ! Christie came to New Zealand as a young man and for a time acted as la farm manager on Motuihi Island. After serving in the Great War he became Government stock inspector at Dargaville, where he was in charge of the development of small farms. He also served his Department at Pukekohe and Paeroa. For the past five years Mr. Christie had suffered from "ill-health. Mr. Christie was at one time chief of the Dargaville Caledonian Society and occupied a similar office in Paeroa. He i is survived by his w^e. >IR. J. H. W. SCOTT The death has occurred of Mr. John Henry William Scott at the i age of 87. Mr. Scott, who was born I in England, came to New Zealand 'about 60 years ago. He went to I Taranaki and was engaged as a I saddler for a number of years before I he began farming in Taranaki and I Raglan. He later moved to Auckland, where he owned a saddlery and general store until he retired about 20 years ago. Five sons and four daughters survive him. There are j2O grandchildren and two great- ' grandchildren.
