CHINESE FOOTBALL TEAM N.S.W. VICTORY AFTER VISITORS STAGE RECOVERY SYDNEY, June 1. In a fast, open game, delighting a crowd of more than 21.0UH. New iSouth Wales defeated China, six kcki's to four, in the opening match of the Soccer tour at the Sydney Cricket Ground yesterday. Three ff oals behind at half-time, China adopted the robust wing-to-'Wing swinging style of New South Wales, drew level. with seven minutes to no, but could not stop the home side from adding two quick goals to clinch victory. Hughes (centre) scored four coals for the winners. Both sides suffered casualties. Conquest. Xew South Wales goalkeeper, left the tield after 20 minutes' play with a gash in 'his hand. China's captain, A. Chee, with a strained let; muscle, did not return after half-time; and W. C. Leunjr. Chinese centre-half, went off in the second half to have two stitches inserted in an eye wound.
The Chinese played tlieir second frame tliLs afternoon, ivhen they ; l>eat South Coast, at Woonona, by four goals to two. Their next engage-incut is at Newcastle on Saturday.
