r The Manukau Amateur Cycling Club this after ' noon decided its sixth annual combined junior ant senior road race for the Helliwell Cup. which wai 1 won last year by V. D. Thomas, who is now serving overseas. The course of 25 miles was over five laps of tin large and hilly circuit at Blockhouse Bay. / strong westerly wind and light showers mad< racing difficult, but 22 of the 38 starters finished C. W. Shilton, 1.30. who led for four laps fo time honours, nunctured on the final round changed to Lloyd s cycle, but lost fastest time b; 12s to Chatfield, first of the scratch trio over tin line.
