America's newest battleship U.S.S. Washington has now been commit, stoned. Here is the 35,000-ton warship being launched at the Philadelphia Naval yards in June, 1940. She is 750 feet long and carries nine 16-inch guns mounted on three twin turrets, sixteen 5-inch guns and three aeroplanes.
