£1600 DAMAGES AWARDED
Rec. noon. LONDON, May 9. Sixteen cement manufacturing companies were awarded a total of £1600 against the Bishop of Birmingham (Dr. Barnes) in a slander action arising from a speech in which the bishop alleged plaintiffs had curtailed production in order to keep up the price of cement.
