AKARANA GOLF CLUB TO STAGE FOUR-BALL FOR WAR FUNDS
Very little effort has been made to stage golf matches for war charitv in New Zealand, though exhibition's by Henry Cotton and others in England have been remarkablv successful. There is not the same enthusiasm among players or public in the Dominion, and Auckland is particularly apathetic. The Akarana club is showing some enterprise in arranging a four-ball match for the afternoon of Sundav, .May 25. between A. Murray, professional champion, and H. D. Brinsden. against Pax Smith and R. Glading. of Hamilton. No better combination of provincial players could have been thought of. There will be a couple of competitions, long driving and nearest the pin. for the onlookers. The following week-end and Monday the annual winter championship tournament will be held.
