FUTURE ALL BLACK
Waitaki High School BoySuccessor to Simon.
The outstanding player in the i Southern-Taieri match at Mosgiel on ; Saturday week was L. S. Wood- : house, the young Southern half-back. i who was making his debut in I Dunedin Rugby. He captained the ' Waitaki High School's fifteen last season, and the good reports which ■ preceded his arrival in Dunedin were • justified by his display on Saturday. Although he is solidly built, he ; showed elusive speed and was always ' well up with the play. His passes were snappy and accurately directed. • and he has already cultivated an '■ excellent understanding with his first live-eighth. S. Robert, who, given a i speedy service, took nearly all his . passes on the run and so provided a ; strong contrast with the flat-footed '■ methods adopted by the Taieri inside ', backs. Since the retirement of H.
, Simon, the Southern halfbacks have ! scarcely been up to standard, but in | Woodhousc the club has found the I promise of a worthy successor to the ! All Black.
