JDA LUPINO is the No. 1 "slapped" star in Hollywood, writes our Hollywood correspondent. George Raft slapped her in "They Drive by Night." For "High Sierra" she was slapped by Humphrey Bogart. In "The Sea Wolf" John Garfield slaps her. Well, she wanted to play a vixen. And vixens in Hollywood die in their films, or get slapped. ♦ ♦ ♦ ♦ QEORGE COLES, F.R.1.8.A., an English architect who has built over a hundred cinemas in Britain, thinks that, as a result of the war, future cinemas will be built for absolute safety. They will go 40ft underground, be bomb and soundproof, and be easier to heat and cool. On the other hand, to build a cinema underground will probably cost double. Over the cinema the architect thinks, would be shops and above them flats. ♦ ♦ ♦ ♦ (}ARY GRANT is refurnishing the beach house he bought from Norma Talmadge, writes Sheilah Graham. It seems that Countess Barbara Hutton Reventlow didn't like the curtains and carpets which went with the house. Sounds as though they will live here after the marriage, which, it is reported, will take place immediately Barbara is legally free from her Danish count.
