"NINE YEARS' HARD"
THIS has nothing to do with a gaol sentence. It is just the period through winch Mr.' J. W. Kendall, more intimately known as "Bill," has held the onerous position of president of the Auckland R.S.A., to which, for another term, he was ! elected last week. Men have differ-
—I ent hobbies. Some are rapt up in their gardens, some are bird fanciers or poultry experts, and others find their life's desire in a game of bowls. But "Bill" Kendall throughout the past nine years has given himself and his energies to the interests of the returned soldiers. While it might not be possible to obtain absolute unanimity as to the success of his efforts, the facts are irrefutable that the R.S.A. in Auckland to-day is in an eminently better position than it was when he took charge.
