FIRST NEW ZEALAND TANK SURPRISE FOR AUCKLANDERS Aucklanders are going to be surprised to-morrow when New Zealand's first home-made 28-ton tank rumbles down Queen Street. Pictures already published fail to give any idea o/ its size and massiveness. The fact that it has been considered inadvisable to drive it over Grafton Bridge is a sufficient tribute to its bulk, and in the parade to-morrow it will dwarf all other mechanised equipment. The tank, which arrived in Auckland a few days ago. stands over 12 feet high and in its war panoply, with the sides bristling with gun positions, its unusual corrugated armour and workmanlike turret, it is a grim-looking object. It is understood that the tank, which was constructed by the Public Works Department, has not yet been officially handed over to the army.
