. FAREWELL TO ATHENS THROUGH CHKKRIXU CROWDS cNZEF. Official Nc«s Service.) CAIRO. May 6. Xt'v: Zealand troops who made a tlayiipln withdrawal through the si roots of Athens, tell a moving story I about the farewell given them by the ! Greek people. As the convoy entered I the city crowds were to be lining the streets. Taking no chances. Bren puns were i>repared for action. False tales had been spread about the Greek collapse. When the crowds began to shower the Xew Zealanders with flowers and cheer them, i" was too much for some of our hoys. With tears running down their cheeks they drove through the cheering crowds, who paid their respects to the heroes who had tried to save them from conquest.
