NOT SATISFIED
COMMERCE CHAMBER
MR. LANGSTONE'S NEW POST
Dissatisfaction with the Government's selection of the Minister of Lands, the Hon. F. Langstone, to go to the United States to initiate and promote trade negotiations was expressed at this morning's meeting of the Auckland Chamber of Commerce. Mr. Gainor Jackson said he wished to be divorced from any question of politics when he expressed the view that Mr. Langstone's appointment was one with which he could not possibly agree. The Minister was not qualified to represent the farmers, he was not sufficiently versed in the other side of business to represent the importers, and he could not be considered satisfactory from the diplomatic viewpoint. Mr. Jackson's motion that the chamber should express its disappointment at the appointment of one with so few qualifications and limited experience as Mr. Langstone for such an important mission was carried unanimouslv.
