NAVAL HOSPITAL.
AUCKLAND QUARTERS. PROGRESS ON BARRACKS. Well up to schedule, the new naval hospital near Calliope Koad. Devonport, is now in the hands of the finishing IradiviniMi and should be completed by the end of June, when it will l>e handed over to the naval authorities. The twostorey block is eont ing £24,000.
With accommodation for 42 patients, and a stuff of alxuiL 12, the building will ri*|dili-t> the |iresent sifk quarters near the , Calliope waterfront, which have met the requirement* of the Naval Department for many years but have heroine inadequate iin/.er present conditions. Constmotion work was begun early last August. The block is of ferroconcrete and coiit-ists of two winjrs roilnested by a central portion, surmounted l>y u tower. A semicircular drive will tuive access to the public from Calliop" Road, while communicuition with the naval base will be. by mean-; of a road down the slope. A courtyard will be formed on the harbour side.
