RUGBY PLANS AN AUCKLAND—ARMY GAME FOR APRIL 26.
Representatives of all senior clubs were present at the weekly meeting of the Auckland Rugiby Football Union last evening. The chairman, Mr. A. A. Baker, expressed pleasure at the presence of Mr. L. Drake, who has been absent from Rugiby circles, due to illness, for some time. Mr. Baker said be hoped that Mr. Drake would once again 'be able toe take an active ;part in Rugby football.
Tlie application for affiliation of the Thames Rugby Football Union was agree*! to. Mr. C. F. Paull beinji accepted as the clubs' representative on the union. The same union applied for a grant of 10 footballs for primary schools and this was agreed to. subject to the usual donation (being available from ti»e New Zealand L'liion.
An invitation was received from the Soutli Auckland Union for representatives to attend its annual meeting on Tuesday next.
The Air Force requested that, in view of its inability to procure light iblue jerseys. permission be jjranteU to adopt a royal /blue, as .provided by the patriotic association. This -was agreed to. An endeavour is to be made to arrange a match between Papakura Camp and the rest of Auckland on Saturday week, and also a curtain-raiser between the W'henuapai and Hobtsonville air 'base teams.
TE PUKE UNION'S DECISION.
A decision to disband the Te Puke Rugby SubUnion until such time as the clubs could field teams was made at the annual meeting. On present indications only two junior teams appear likely to be active, Rangiuru and Old Boys, as a result of the many enlistments among footballers in the district. Messrs. E. J. Joyce and E. R. Bertram were appointed trustees.
