Mr. J. Fuviell has returned to Auckland from the south. , Mr. Malcolm Stewart, of Dunedin, is paying a visit to Auckland. Mr. W. W. Meek travelled to Wellington J>y train laet niffht. Mr. S. Austin Carr returned to Auckland from Wellington by train yesterday. Mr. Justice Blair left Auckland for Wellington by train yesterday. Judge H. F. Ayson, Resident Commissioner of the Cook Islands, is visiting Auckland. Mr. P. S. Delany, traffic manager for Pan-American Airways at Auckland, arrived at Auckland .from Sydney on the Monterey this morning. Mr. C. R. Pakiret. M.S.Meeh.E.. M.1.C.E., has returned to Xew Zealand after , an absence of 47 years in South America, India and England. Captain C. V. Stanich. Auckland waterfront controller, returned to Auckland iiom Wellington to-daj' after attending a conference at Wellington. Major C. C. Muscroft Taylor. X.Z.S.C., has been appointed General Staff Officer, iirst grade, central military district. Wellington, with the temporary rank of lieu-tenant-coloucl, according to a Gazette notice. Archbishop Avrrill lias letired from the position of president of the Dominion Council of the Bible-in-Schools League. after holding the position for 15 years. He ie succeeded by Archbishop West-Watson. The Rev. H. K. Yickery travelled to Wellington last nisrht on his way to Treiitham camp .prior to taking up his ■post as' chaplain on the hospital ship Maunganui. Mr. G. M. Smith was re-elected chairman of the Auckland division of the Xew Zealand National party and Mr. A. McKenzie was elected vice-president at the annual meeting of the division thie week, at which Mr. S. G. Holland, Leader of the Opposition, was present.
