FATAL COLLISION.
MOTOR CYCLE AND LORRY. TWO MEN LOSE LIVES. (0.C.) lIAMILTOX. Sunday. A fatal motor accident occurred on the main highway near Tirau at 6.30 p.m. yesterday, when two men were killed. The victims were: — Mr. Peter Rawson, aged 50. a Maori labourer, married, of Putaruru. Mr. John Livingstone, aged 44, teamster, single, of Tokoroa. Messrs. Kawson and Livingstone were riding on a motor cycle, owned by Mr. Livingstone, and believed to have been driven by him, between Putaruru and Tirau. and were two miles on the cast side of Tirau. The machine became involved in a collision with a motor lorry driven by Mr. John Simpson, a builder, of Putaruru. who was proceeding in the opposite direction. The accident occurred on a slight bend in the road. Mr. Rawson died immediately, and Mr. Livingstone died within aii hour, before he could be taken to hospital. Mr. Rawson loft a large family. Mr. Livingstone, who came from Scotland, had no relative* in Xcw Zealand, so far ; as is known. An inquest was opened before the coroner, Mr. M. St. .7. Paxton, at Putaruru. to day, and adjourned.
