TERRITORIAL CALL. OVER 7000 MEN LISTED. <I\A.) WELLINGTON, Friday. Ihe fifth ballot containing the name* of men to be called up for Territorial service and the result of which would appear in a Gazette Kxtraordinarv to lie published on Wednesday next was a ballot in name only, as the number of men remaining in the classes to be called up was not greater than the number required, said the Minister or National Service, the lion. K. Semple, in a statement to-night.

"The national service regulations provide that in such a contingency (lie whole residue of the class or classes from which the men are to be drawn may be called up without going through the formality of a ballot," Mr. Semple sa id.

"In order that there may he some stability in the personnel of the Territorial l'orces, it. was decided not to draft into them any men who are now eligible or will shortly become eligible for overseas service. Accordingly, the men called tip on this occasion are from either class 81, l'J years of age, or C, 41 to 45.

"The number of reservists called up in each of tho 12 military districts of the Dominion are: —Auckland, 1079; Paeroa. 3:SM; Wliangarei, 1;$!); Hamilton, 204; Wellington, 853; Wanganui, 615; Napier, (i.'54; New Plymouth, 350; Nelson, 720; Christehureli, , 1156; Dunedin, 774; Invercargiil, 74f>; total, 7710.

"After the publication of this Gazette the position will be that all men aged 19 or 41 to 45 will have been called tip, unless they are volunteer Territorials or have been attested for service with the navy or air force and are undergoing training or waiting to be called lip for training. "Any man of the specified ages wlio is not in any one of the positions indicated must assume that his name has been wrongly omitted from the register. For his own protection he should at once communicate with the Director of, National Service, Wellington."
