RUSHED TO NOUMEA.
RADIO APPEAL ANSWERED. An urgent radio appeal from Noumea to the Commonwealth Government resulted in the arrival at Auckland on the flying-boat Aotearoa yesterday of packages of vaccine and serum for transportation by the Honolulu Clipper to New Caledonia to be used to conibat the bubonic plague outbreak.
Valued at about £100, the consignment was kept in the Aotcaroa's refrigerator during the flight across the Tasni.ni. and the same methods will be used on the Clipper's northbound flight to Noumea.
Owing to a slight mechanical adjustment' being necessary, Pan-American Airways' Honolulu Clipper left Auckland approximately an hour later than the scheduled time of 8.,"K) a.m. to-day, and is due at .Noumea to-night. Leaving Canton Island this morning, the American Clipper is expected at Noumea this evening. The Clipper will continue the southbound flight to-mor-row and is expected at Auckland on Sunday afternoon. The return flight to San Francisco will begin 'on Tuesday morning and mail for the Clipper close's at 10 a.m. on Monday morning. It is unprecedented" that two Clippers should stay the same nitrht. at Noumea and is due to the duration of the last southbounfl flight.
TASMAN AIR SERVICE.
AWARUA FOR SYDNEY.
Commanded by Captain O. Garden, Tasman Empire Airways' flying-boat Aotcaroa arrived from Sydney yesterday afternoon with 13 passengers, 540 kilos of mail and a small consignment of freight for the Honolulu Clipper. The following were j>aseengers:— Dr. H. R. Braak, Dr. W. Fischel, Messrs. G. J. Aldous, H. C. Dovey, A. Milner, E Schabe. T. H. Slater, F. Wiltshire, Mre. W. Robinson and Mr. and Mre. W. F. Harwig and two daughters. Carrying 11 passengers and a large amount of mail. Tasman Empire Airways' flying-boat Awarua, under the command of Captain O. Garden left for Sydney shortly after eix o'clock this morning. All the passengers were from the Honolulu Clipper which arrived yesterday afternoon. Th-ey were — Messra. J. Bannister, A. West, H. Me'tz M. Clairmon«J, R. McKay, K. Week h' Lafleur, S. C. Mawhoocf, Mesdaines V Delloro, M. Hicks and Miss D. Dyason The return flight will be made tomorrow.
