BODIES IN SEA.

TWO FOUND TO-DAY.

HOTEL LICENSEE'S FATE.

The bodies of two men were recovered l)y the Queen's wharf poliec from the harbour this morning, one in Mechanics' Bay at about 7.30, and the other, near the Western Viaduct about 8.45.

Both were soon identified, the first as that of Mr. Albert Edward Neville, aged .">7, married, licensee of the Ambassadors' Hotel, Quay Street, aiul the other as that of Mr. Hiram Miller, a widower, aged 78, of 26, Milton Road, Balmoral.

Tangled in Fishing Line.

The body of Mr. Miller was entangled in a fishing line and it would appear that while fishing near tlje viaduct he bceamc caught in the line and fell into the water. He was reported to the police a« missing earlier in the week. He left his home last Sunday morning with the intention of going to the Onchunga wharf to fish, but he evidently changed his plans and came to the city waterfront. Well-Known Licensee. Mr. Neville was a well-known Auckland hotelkeepcr, and for the last 10 years has held the license of the Ambassadors' Hotel. He was last seen about 7.30 yesterday morning at his hotel. He leaves a wife, two daughters and a son. Born in Kngland, Mr. Neville came to New Zealand 3.'5 years ago.

Earlier in his life Mr. Neville went to sea and performed a conspicuous act of gallantry on a steamer in danger of sinking in the North Atlantic. The engine bed worked loose and caused a serious leak, which extended aft beneath the shaft tunnel. Mr. Neville worked his way along the tunnel through steam and managed to stop the leak, thus saving the ship. He later received an award from Llovd's.
