Sydney Barnes, the New South W*}e. batsman, is having a wonderful season, hie 132 against Victoria at the end of January being his fifth centurv in Jo hands. The centuries having been niad» in five successive matches, but only the last two of them have been in successive hands. A curious feature is thai his six first innings scores have been 0. 144, 108, 133, 137 and 132, while hi« four second innings efforts have brought him only 15, 3, 3, and o. Altogether he ha* made 6SO runs at an average of #8.
