In parentheses, are as follow: -Customs. £249.495 (£243.336): sales tax. £98,840 (£112.964); beer. £12.843 (£11.706): motor spirit at 6d. £33.599 (£41.224); tyres, £502 (£1451). War tax totalled £131.156. compared with £28.032 for the same month in 1939. i''or the nine months customs revenue amounted to £2,475.243. compared with £ 2,653,677. GENERAL RISE. Customs revenue collected at Christchurch In December was £46.461 higher than In December, 1939. nnd for the nine months of the financial year to the end of December was £111.035 higher than for the corresponding period in the previous year. All main revenue items showed Increases In December, except petrol tax.
