NO MAIL, NO PARCELS.

ELEVEN LONELY SOLDIERS.

N.Z.E.F. IN GREAT BRITAIN. (P.A.) WELLINGTON, Thursday. In response to an inquiry, the National Patriotic Fund Board has received from its overseas commissioner, LieutenantColonel F. W T aite, a preliminary list of names and other particulars- of 11 men of the New Zealand Expeditionary Force in the United Kingdom whom chaplains consider get neither letters nor parcels eent to them individually and who may rightly be classed as lonely soldiere. The' board made the inquiry so ae to be able to pass on the names of genuine lonely soldiers to people in this country who are willing to write to them. A similar inquiry was addressed to the board's representative with the New Zealand Forces in the Middle East, but although advice has been received that the matte-r is receiving attention, to date a list has not been received from this quarter. Mr. G. A. Hayden, secretary of the board, said today that he knew from inquiries made earlier that there were people only too willing to write and send individually addressed parcels to ■lonely soldiers to supplement parcels sent forward by the board. The names of such men, as they were'received from the board's representatives, would be made available on application to persons who were prepared to render this valuable service, which -would, he felt eure, be appreciated by the men concerned.
