■•- . , On Friday night next at Hie Majesty's Theatre J. C. Williamson's latest Gilbert and Sullivan Comic Opera Company will make their initial appearance in New Zealand in a brilliant production of the tuneful and spectacular opera "The Gondoliers, in which the company achieved one of its best successes in A-istralia. All the obstacles which have necessitated the postponement of the Auckland season have been overcome, and as eeveral scenic and lighting rehearsals have taken place under the supervision of the stage manager, everything is in readiness for the company which-arrives on Thursday evening. The management announces that it is essential for those who had reserved seats before the alteration in the opening night to have their bookings adjusted immediately at the box office "The Gondoliers" k packed with all the best music and melodies of Sullivan, and the wit and humour of Gilbert is expressed at its best in this delightful comic opera. Of course, even the works of the famous collaborators have to be presented by an efficient company, and in this respect the Williamson management has evidently got together a particularly powerful organisation of singers dancers and comedians. It is headed by the popular comedian, Ivan Menzies, who will again present his whimsical characterisation of the Duke of Plaza Toro. Other popular artists who ' have previeuelv appeared here are Gregory Stroud, Richard Watson and Vincent McMurray.
