THE METROPOLE.
A gaily decorated Christinas tree 011 the band dais of the Metropole 011 Saturday night indicated the festive season, special features being arranged by the director, Mr. Alfred Fenn, for the enjoyment of the dancers. The band, under the conductorship of Lew Jones, presented an outstanding programme to fulfil the requirements of old-time and modern followers, and favourite airs of earlier periods were interspersed with the latest syncopated hits from overseas sources. Les Williams directed the floor routine, ranging from foxtrots to the maxina, while the Monte Carlo competition was given Yuletide interest in its distribution of prizes. Miss V. Dreaver acted as official hostess. Supper was served downstairs.
