British Bombers Over Castel Benito, HUGE FIRE STARTED. (Reed. 10.30 a.m.) CAIRO, Dec. 22. A special Royal Air Force communique states: "We most successfully raided Castel Benito last night. The first wave of bombers scored four direct hits on three hangars and caused several fires and one explosion. Eleven enemy planes wore destroyed and several others damaged.

"A second wave scored seven hits on or near undamaged hangars. Eight more planes were destroyed and others damaged. One explosion blew up $ building. Alf the raiders dive-attacked and machine-gunned the aerodrome after bombing. Fires wore left blazing over a largo part of the aerodrome and also a dump. The fire was visible for 70 miles. All our machines returned."

A Royal Air Force communique cabled by British Official Wireless states: "In Italian East Africa, Gura, M<*teinma. Assab and Maiabaga were raided. It was not possible to estimate the amount of damage caused at Gura and Maiabaga, but all the bombs fell in the target area, while at Assab, dive-attacks were made on waterworks.

t'On Wednesday the South African Air Force curried out raids on Afmadii and Moyale. At t)ie former place, Caproni planes, buildings and motor transports were bombed, and at the latter direct hits were obtained <>n an enemy camp."
