OBITUARY.
In her 88th year, the death occurred yesterday of Mi*. Edward Hare, of 160, Balmoral Road. Formerly Miss Elizabeth Howarth, Mrs. Hare was born in Manchester and came out to \ew Zealand by the James Wishart, in 1874, the voyage occupying 100 days. In July of the same year, she married Mr. Hare, who had come out from Northern Ireland nine years previously. Thev were therefore al>le to celebrate the Goth anniversary of their wedding 18 months ago. The officiating minister at the ceremony was the late Rev. Alexander Reed, of the Methodist Church. Mr. Hare was in business in Auckland from 1888 until his retirement in 1932. For more than 25 years Mrs. Hare was a member of the Dorcas Society, and was for 18 years its president. Her husband and she claimed to be the first and oldest Seventh Day Adventists in New Zealand. Mrs. Hare is survived by her husband and four of their seven children.
