Four Blocks Of Flats Wrecked By Two Bombs. United Press Association.—Copyrlcht. (Reed, noon.) LONDON, Oct. 14. Raiders came in relays early this morning, one machine-gunning the streets of a London district. A trolley bus was wrecked while the passengers and driver were sheltering. Two bombs wrecked four blocks of flats in one London area. Ono hit a shelter where two persons were killed and a number injured. Three bombs demolished a number of working-class houses, small shop*, and hit an Anderson shelter. It is feared there were some casualties. Residents in an outlying district reported that 10 bombs were dropped in less than a minute. Slight damage wa« done to houses. Five thousand of the Pioneers Corps set out this morning to clcar up London air raid wreckage. Heavy gunfire was lieard in the London district during the first alert to-day. Anti-aircraft guns came into action against a large four-engined bomber which was seen high over a London suburb. The raider dropped bombs a« it dived. It was reported later that it crashed in open ground. Isolated bombers attacked towns on the Thames Estuary, the Midlands, and the Home Counties in the afternoon, demolishing bu- lnoss premises and houses and causing some casualties. One plane, attacking a Thames Estuary town, caught hundreds of shoppers napping and dropped five bombs in residential districts, demolishing five houses. It is believed many residents were buried. Five bombs fell on a West of Scotland town this morning. Three were of the delayed action tvpe, necessitating tho evacuation of 200 families from their houses. There were 110 casualties, and little damage from others.
