There were several smart effort* -L candidates for the Auckland spring mel ing at Takaniui this morning outside grafts track provided good a£? The best gallops were those of Shu March, Cambria. Flood Tide, Heroic iSr Orelio. Gaynvifw, Grandora and QU Council.
Flood Tide (Mclnally) worked oouadlr over a mile in 1.47 2-3. after first half-mile in 51 3-ss. The Don? (Beguely) finished clear of \iaia (Cleaver) and Small Boy (Spinley) at the end of a mile and a quarter, the ]«t £ju taking 1.49 */-5. Gamos (Coker) was sag a mile, which he completed in 1.50 first four furlongs taking .>4 2-Ss. XW best efforts over five furlongs Wen credited to Heroic Star (Brown), who 4efeated Foxola (Coker) by a length n fj ' 2-ss, and Orelio (T. Green), who going a shade better than Arvakur (Hj. Tavjsh) at the end of a similar task. G|>| Council (Cleaver) was responsible for a smart effort over six furlongs, covering the distance in 1.18, the first three i» 37 l-ss. Route March (McTaridi) doing a shade better than Cambria (Green) at the conclusion of four furioM in .50 2-ss. Xettarion (McTavi«h) «5 Borak (Green) were both going riicejy u the end of a similar task in 31k, tie* ' which was equalled by Sir I.TnmL (Coleman).
Miss Jose (Spinley) and Airport (Parsons) both pleased while running Aim furlongs in 37 3-Ss, Kraal (Spinley) —| Payette (Parsons) taking 38®. with the former doing it particularly well. Gna--dora (Parsons) ..and Lovaals (Spirit j)" covered five furlongs in -1.5. the former going extremely well to finish a couple ef lengths in front, but the margin liare been greater.

' Five furlongs: Mysito f Jackson) mi Venture (Smith) L 5 1-5. Full Hand (Jackson) beat Cornish (McMinn) 4.6. Gsj** (Parsons) beat Proud Fox (Smith) li High Sea (Jackson) and Sea Law Off. Minn) 1.8. Dinki Di (Cleaver) L 7. fnu. (Ferrill) 1.10 3-5.
Six furlongs: Princess Val (Cofenaa) and Inver (Stratton) 1.19 3-5, Silver Om (CTeaver) 1.20 2-5.
