Dame Sybil ThorndLke was the first Edith Cavell on the screen—in the silent picture, "Dawn." Otherwise her great abilities have not been used to the full in films. In "Major Barbara," now being made in England, she has the role of a Salvation Army general. Ten years ago, Dame Sybil played the title role of "Major Barbara" on the London stage.
