OPEN GOLF TOURNEYS ARRANGED FOR OCTOBER.

With the golf courses now at their beet several clubs are staging tournaments this month for both men and women members. At Titirangi next Sunday week a ■Stableford bogey for both -sexes will be played in the morning and a mixed Canadian foursome in .the afternoon. There ere other competitions also and entries from other clubs are invited. A mixed open day hae also been arranged at Middlemore on the same day. On Sunday week an open day for amateurs will be held at Middlemore. On the following week-end the Labour Day tournament wrll be held at Middlemore extends ing over three daye. The annual ladies' championship and handicap tournament conducted by the Akarana Club and usually held in the winter was postponed this-year until next week. It commences on Wednesday and finishes on Friday. The venue of the ladies' champion of champions contest is Akarana and the date fixed is October 24. LADIES' COMPETITIONS. Remnera.—Games In the championship resulted: Senior, first round: ■ Mrs. F. Sturt beat Mrs. J. M. Wilson, 1 up; Mrs. M. Bannister beat Mrs. I. C. Stewart, 4 and 3: Mrs. C. N. Jacobsen beat Miss E. Suter, 3 and 2: Mrs. R. C. Bardley won from Mrs. J. B. Morris by default. Semi-finals: Mrs. Bannister beat Mrs. Sturt. 4 and 3: Mrs. Jacobsen beat Mrs. Hardley. 2 up. Juniors, second round: Miss M. English beat Mrs. R. G. Pierpoint, 5 and 4; Miss D. Grove beat Miss E. Porter, 5 and 4; Mrs. H. C. Bowden beat Mrs. G. Huston, 4 and 3; Mrs. L. C. Williams .beat Mrs. V. Badeley, 2 and 1. Semi-finals: Miss Grove beat Miss English, 2 ana 1; Mrs. Williams beat Mrs. Bowden, 1 up.
