MOUNT ALBERT PLAYS RICHMOND NEXT SATURDAY.
The Auckland Rugby League decided last night to stage one match this week in the final series ot the championship, with a view to arriving at the runner-up in the competition, which has been won by Richmond. It was arranged to pit Mount Albert against Richmond, the chairman (Mr. O. Grey Campbell) stating that the result would probably decide which teams were to meet in the cnamplon-of-champlons game later on. The points at present in the championship, so far as they affect the winner and runner-up, are:—Richmond 25. North Shore 20, Mount Albert 18.
In order to deprive Ponsonby of the Thistle Cup. for the team winning most championship games in the second round. Richmond now requires a victory over Mount Albert. If the latter club be defeated on Saturday North Shore would qualify for the champlon-of-champlons match afalnst Richmond, provided the latter side eventually win the Roope Hoester competition, two games in the first round of which will be played this week The Stallard Cup competition (senior B) will also be commenced next Saturday.
