MANUKAU MEET THE LEAGUE LEADERS.

PONSONBY AND NORTH SHORE IN THE CURTAIN-RAISER.

The Auckland Rugby League's 6enio>' championship competition will be carricd a further stage at Carlaw Park to-morio.v afternoon, when principal interest will centre in the match between Richmond and Manukau. Richmond are the present leaders in the competition as the resu.t of deposing North Shore of the lead last Saturday, while Manukau are fourth on the points table. Richmond owe their present position to the excellence of their team-piay. They will put a good forward division into the field, which includes notable players in Devine and Mitchell, while they have a set of backs of proved ekill and experience. Graham is one of the best nvcI eighths in Auckland, Tittleton is a remarkably sound centre, while in So.oinoii they have one of the outstanding players of the code. The Manukau play this season has laeked in linish. but tliey have provided spectacular football. With players of the type of Watene and Marsh at call, the team has the heaviest pack in Auckland. They have a good half-back in Selwyn to work their backs, and players of talent in Martin, Chase and Butler to give support. With one of their best displays Manukau might easily spring a surprise. In the early match on the No. 1 ground an ImproTed Tonsonby team will meet North Shore. Mariet have been drawn to meet.
