FORCED LANDING.
BOMBER FROM WHENUAPAI.
MACHINE NOT DAMAGED.
(By Telegraph.—Own Correspondent.)
WHAXGAREI, this day.
\ For two days a Baffin bomber from tno base at Wlienuapai has been at the Kerikeri aerodrome, where it was necessary to land owing to the gale which arose suddenly on Wednesday afternoon. No hangar or shelter is available at the aerodrome, but the 'plane was securely anchored, to the ground and fastened to a heavy lorry. Organised by Constable F. L. Ryan, of Ohaeawai. a guard of the Northland Veterans' Guard kept watch on the 'plane on Wednesday night, when, owing to the force of the wind, it was kept anchored in the open with difficulty. Last night Kerikeri members of the Veterans' Guard kept watch. The plane, which was under the control of Pilot-Officer Andrews, has not been damaged in any way, but, according to regulations, it cannot take off until a prior inspection has been made. It is expected that a 'piano with inspecting (officers will arrive to-day, and that the bomber will be able to return to Auckland thus afternoon. The weather is still showery at Kerikeri, but the wind i has dropped.
