BRITISH ATTACKS. Italian Shipping In Libya Under Fire. LAND ENCOUNTERS CONTINUE. United Press Association.—Copyright. (Received 2 p.m.) LONDON, July 21. The British Admiralty states that the submarine Swordfish and machines of the Fleet Air Arm yesterday again attacked Tobruk (Libya). A heavy explosion followed a direct hit on an oil tanker.
Transports and supply ships were also hit. All the British 'planes returned.
A Cairo communique states: "The daily harassing of enemy columns attempting to approach Capuzzo continues.
"Our camel crops and pony patrol on Friday successfully raided Farenji, in Italian Somaliland, inflicting casualties and losing none."
A Nairobi communique says a British reconnaissance patrol to-day encountered a battalion of enemy mounted infantry in tho northern frontier district and inflicted casualties.
A Borne communique states: "Italian bombers effectively bombed from a low altitude a torpedo factory at Malta. Large fires occurred.
"Italian "planes in East Africa effectively bombed an air base »t Buna. We bombed air and naval basts at Berbera, British Somaliland, and positions at Kurmak, in Anglo-Egyptian Sudan."
