THEFT OF £10.
FARM HAND SENTENCED. "There doesn't seem to be much chance of the man getting his money' back," said Mr. W. R. McKean, S.M., in the Police Court to-day, when sentencing Mervyn Sommers Edwards, farm hand, aged 22, to one month's imprisonment. Edwards pleaded guilty to the theft of £10 and a watch valued at fl. Detective-Sergeant McHugh said Edwards was employed on a farm at Mount Roskill. He left his employment on June 2S, and the following night visited the employees' quarters when he knew they would be absent. From the pocket of one employee he stole £10. He also took a watch from the room. The money had not been recovered, the the accused having spent it.
