"TO SAY THANKS."
AMERICA'S ASSISTANCE.
SAFETY OF THE PACIFIC
(By Telegraph.—Parliamentary Reporter.)
WELLINGTON, this day
The. part played by the United States of America in respect to the present war was mentioned in the House of Representatives yesterday by Mr. Lee (Democratic Labour, Grey Lynn) when speaking in the financial debate. He said that it was appropriate that he should be speaking on American Independence Day and he wondered if it would not be of advantage to send a delegation to the United States Consulate merely to say thanks tg the American people for what they were doing. The delegation would not ask for anything more, but would explain that New Zealand wae conscious of the importance of the United States to the Dominion as far ae the safety of the Pacific wa« concerned. Such a' deputation would show the gratitude that New Zealand felt for the part played by the United States.
