NO ROYAL SHOW.

SOCIETY'S DECISION.

WARTIME DIFFICULTIES.

PRESIDENT RE-ELECTED.

(By Telegraph.— Association.) WELLINGTON, Friday. ! The abandonment of the Royal Show this year was decided on by the council of the Royal Agricultural Society, which met in Wellington to-day. The show was to have been held in Hastings in October. It was pointed out to members before they came to this decision that in wartime it was difficult to make arrangements as far ahead as had to bidone for a Royal Show, that the tending of exhibits and the travelling 0 f people long distances to the show placed a load on the transport system of the eountrv, and that the holding of the show would take exhibitors, judges and officials awav from work on their farms at a time when they should be producing. At the annual meeting which followed, a proposal that local shows be abandoned until after the war found little support. President Answers Criticism. Mr. L. J.
