EXPORT OF PORK.
GOVERNMENT APPEAL
COMMITTEE SET UP.
The request made by the Government that steps should be taken to assist in the export of pork to Britain was brought before the notice of the City Council by the Mayor, Sir Ernwst Davis, who said the matter was urgent. Ha added that the request would be discussed at a meeting of mayors next Monday. The council, he believed, would approve of a scheme of national value.
Mr. J. Donald offered the use of a farm free to the end of the war.
A special committee consisting of Messrs. J. A. C. Allum, E. F. Andrews, J. L. Coakley, R. Armstrong and A. Howev Walker was set up to make preliminary investigation, and it was decided to co-opt to the committee Messrs. C. W. Anderson, C. J. Lovegrove, W. C. Xeal and the Hon. Eliot R. Davis, M.L.C.
