DOCTOR FAREWELLED.
MEDICAL SUPERINTENDENT AUCKLAND HOSPITAL NURSES. An informal -jiarty to farewell Dr. <T. W. Craven, the medical superintendent of the Auckland Hospital, who will leave shortly, on overseas service, was arranged by -Miss E. M. Xutsey, lady superintendent of the hospital, in the social hall at the Xtirses' Homo yesterday, tlie nursing staff 'being present. Miss Xutsey, in a brief speech extended best wishes to Dr. -Craven' on behalf of the nursing staff. A presentation of a wallet was made Dr. Craven -by Sister Joyce Tyler oil behalf' of the sisters, wliile the student nurses gave him a box of cigars, the gift l>eing presented by Xnrse S. M. Jones.
In expressing his appreciation of their gesture, Dr. Craven said that the eight 3*ears 'lie had ibeen superintendent of the hospital ' were imnvbered annpng tho iliappiest. of -his; life. He paid special tribute to Miss Xutsey and Miss V. Cussen, assistant lady superintendent, for their great help. The valuable part played iby the nurses in the war effort was stressed by the speaker, who said that it would "become even more important in-the near future. He felt certain that the nursing staff of the Auckland Hospital, ■when called upon, would worthily uphold the traditions of their profession.
