DEVONPORT BOROUGH.
VACANT SEAT ON COUNCIL
It was decided at a special meeting of the Devonport Borough Council last night that the vac&ncy on the council caused by the death of Mr. H. Morris ehould be filled by an appointment by the council. Authority was given to the Mayor and" town clerk to approach exmembere of the council with a view to recommending one of them for appointment, those of the preceding year being given preference. A ballot will be held at the next meeting of the council if neceaeary.
Alter some discussion it was agreed that the council should fall in with the proposed emergency precautions scheme and that Devonport's allocation, amounting to £265, should be paid.
