The scheme under which the New Zealand Government has agreed to find refu re f. » children to be evacuated from Great Britain for the duration of the war provides that only those between the ages of five and Iβ, who are unaccompanied by parents, shall be taken. An exception will be made in the case of a few war widows with children, and these widows will be required to accept suitable employment jtfei-ed in the Dominion.

As far as practicable, the children are to be maintained in private homes in preference to institutions. They will nut be sent to their future homes immed.ately on arrival/as it is proposed that while • y are accommodated together prospective foster-parents and <hildren will have the opportunity of -econung acquainted prior to allocations being made.

Arrangements for the reception of the i-bildren on arrival and the allocation to private homes will be made by the vJueation Department.
