Sir.Albert Ellis has left on a, visit to Australia. Mr. P. Can , , M.l\, arrived from Wellington by the Limited express this ■morning. The Hon. J. Cotter. M.L.C., was a passenger from Wellington by the Limited express this morning. Major E. H. Whiting, Publicity Officer, Central Military District, is in hospital, and is reported" to be seriously ill. The Hon. Mr. Justice Fair, .who has been attending sittings of the Court of Appeal in Wellington, has returned to Auckland. Mr. C. H. TraeK, stationmaster at Auckland for the past seven weeks, has left for Dunediii, where lie will take up the position of assistant district manager. Mr. A. C. Francis, of the staff of the Waimato High School, lias' been appointed first assistant and senior language master at Scots College, Wellington. Mr. A. D. Baggs, district telegraph engineer for Auckland, lias received notification of his promotion to the position of supervising engineer at the General Post Office, Wellington. He will be succeeded by Mr. A. H. Coles, of the chief engineer's branch, Wellington. Mr. X. W. Millner, well-known in commercial aviation circles, who has been in charge of the air travel department of the Wellington branch of the Union Steam Ship Company, iias resigned to enter business on his own account in Christchurch. * Professor 'H. E. Field lias been appointed Dean of the Faculty of Mental, Moral and Social Sciences at Canterbury University College. Dr. A. Crowther and Messrs. R. Winterbouni and C. G. F. Simkin have also been elected members of the faculty.
