OBITUARY.
MR. W. J. BLAKEY. The death has occurred, at the age of SO years, of Mr, William John Blakey, of Victoria Koad, Devonport. Mr. Blakey was the last representative in Auckland of the trade of ship's block maker. His father, the late' Mr. B. Blakey, arrived in Auckland in 1856, and after being engaged in a ship's chandlery business for seven years, established a spar supply yard and block factory in what was then known as Ollieial Bay, uear tho site of the preeent Auckland railway station. Later he was connected with a sawmill business in Commercial Bay, but in 1871 returned to the block making trade.. Taking over his father's business, Mr. W. J. Blakey continued it ill premises in Swanson Street until 1029, when he retired. He is survived by his wife, four sons and three daughters.-
