COUNTRY WEEK HOCKEY.
PROVINCIAL CUP CONTESTS,
In bleak weather this morning the third round of ■ the Auckland Ladies' Country Week hockey tournament was decided ami the fourth was to follow after lunch. The principal game was the meeting of the two unbeaten XL's in Section A. and the upshot was a four-goal victory for Auckland over the 1930 winner of the Provincial Cup, Hauraki Plains. . The home side notched two goals in each spell. H. McCutcheon (inside left) and M Anderson (wing) had Auckland two up after a quarter o£ an hour's piny, while 0 D Cowie (centre) twice netted in the second- spell. Hauraki Plains failed to score, their brilliant right winger. Margaret Smith, -seeing'very little of the boll. The three other matches resulted:— Section A.—Rodney 1, drew with AVha"Section B— Botorua 5 (K. Peek 2, T. Curtis 2, B. Seweli) beat Hauraki Plains 1. To-morrow!s- game .between. Auckland B and Rotorua ■will decide which team will contest.. the l final --with • Auckland -A.
