CLOSING OF PORT.
At noon yesterday the naval authorities closed the port of Auckland on all outwtinl bound vessels over 500 tons for a ]>oriod of 24 hours. The step was taken, under the Public Traffic Regulation* gazetted last September.- The signal by dav prohibiting tlie sailing of a merchant ship is a blue Hag hoisted at Mount Victoria signal station, and three, red lights are hoisted at night.
