"GREAT SHOW."
MASTER'S TRIBUTE. WENT LIKE CLOCKWORK. FINEST TRADITIONS OF SEA. "It was a wonderful show," declared the master of the vessel, Captain W. Martin, this morning. "Everything went like clockwork right • from the start. Officers and crew to the last man did their jobs and acted tip to the finest traditions of the sea. The calmness of the passengers was remarkable, and during the operations there was not a sound; you would never have thought there had been a shipwreck. "When they got" into the boats," continued Captain Martin, "you'd have thought they were all going to a picnic— laughing, singing, joking. There was no suggestion of confusion at any time whatsoever. "Here I would like to pay a tribute to the passengers on the liner which rescued us. There weren't many of them, ■but they rallied round in great style. Everything possible was done for us aboard tliis ship. The.citizens of Auckland, too, have the greatest thanks of the Niagara survivors for the way in which they have done everything in their power to extend hospitality."
