EXPLOSION. "Our job was to fill the boilers full of cold water to avert, the possibility of an explosion," said Sir. A. Burless, a boilermnker attached to the engineers' department. ..■■ He said be was just going on- duty when the disaster occurred about 20 minutes- to four. With the two engineers on watch and two stokers be performed his job, which took about 20 minutes. The ship was then-sinking by the head. "There was no.'panic among the passengers," he "said. "They all took. the trouble calmly and did not complain about the long wait in the boats .before they were taken, on. other vessels. It was an anxious , time looking for help, however." ,>•
