SUNDAY MATCH REFUSED.

WOT THE POLICY O*F THE CODE. A request by the New Zealand Maori Control Board for the'uee of Carlaw Park on Sunday for the playing of a special challenge match between the Maori and Pakeha teams, the proceeds to be devoted to the Sports and Maori Queens in the patriotic carnival, was refused at the meeting of the Rugby League Control Board last night. The application was supported by the Sports Queen committee. It was stated that it was not the policy of the code to play organised football on Sundays, and it should not be encouraged. It was announced that the Stonex family had donated £100 to the funds of the Sports Queen. Reporting on the League's activities in this connection, the chairman said the ladies' committee had paid a similar sum to the same fund, and, in addition, the ladies were taking part in the street collections for the general patriotic fund. It was reported that the famous exinternational footballer of the two codes, Opae Aeher, would lead the various Itugby League barrows in the sports parade In aid of the Sports Queen in the city to-morrow. Mr. J. w. Probert stated that some unique exhibits would be seen, and prizes were to be awarded for the best decorated and most original barrows. Registrations.— A. I. Jost, Newton, and J. F. Rayner. North Shore. Transrer.—j. Greenwood, Richmond reserve to North Shore senior. Conditional transfers were granted to F. Pickrang (Ponsonby) mid p. Muhiii'ii (Manukau), who are at Trentliam Camp, to play at Wellington. The application was made by the Central Club.
