PATRIOTIC WORK.
PONSONBY COMMITTEE. Under the auspices of the Ponsonby Patriotic Committee a , social mid gift afternoon was held in St. John's Methodist School hall yesterday. The president, Jlrs. S. 0. English, presided. The numerous gifte (brought l 0 function to (x> included in parcels for soldiers showed the keen interest' of the women in the. work of the branch; and a detailed outline of this work was given hy the secretary, Mrs. A. J. Avtchison. Community singing was led'by fixe Bev. A. Everill Orr, and items were given by Mrs. H. C. MeLennaii, Mrs. H. Harris, Miss Betty Brown, Mrs. T. Shaw and the Rev. Orr. Tea wae served by the committee of the patriotic branch, assisted iby the afternoon tea committee of St. John's Guild.
